owen replay was born in 1971.
his parents and grandparents were themselves musicians, singers and composers. from the age of 9, he began learning the classical organ and later he chose to experiment with electronic music. his first album was released when he was 15 under a belgian undergound label. he went on to work and remix songs for international artists including david morales, paul johnson, gloria gaynor, anita ward, oliver cheatham, mike kennedy, ce ce rogers,... he also worked for different labels such as bny and freezzy jam.
inspired by the 'jazzy sound', he is convinced that the music of the future is electro-accoustic. he thinks samples are only tools and no machines can replace the artist and his or her creativity.
according to owen replay, perfection does not exist but only harmonies. 'salon de luxe' is the fruit of several years work and reflexion. meeting oliver bodson, the trumpet player and patrick balzat was important and decisive for the development of this album. all the titles were recorded in brussels at the ohm studio and all songs and melodies were inspired by the moods and events of a particular moment. lounge music remains a intermediary step between jazz and house music, and as such is accessible to a wider audience.
